Why You Should Watch Stranger Things

With the recent premier of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, the popular Netflix show is on the minds of many students.  As much as students at Airport High School love watching the show Stranger Things, however, some people think that it's a boring and weird show. I think that people should watch Stranger Things because it teaches you a lot of good things and each individual episode is very entertaining.  To be more specific, three reasons I love the show are for its nostalgic qualities, the character development, and its psychological depth.

The first reason why people should watch Stranger Things is because it has simple 1980s nostalgia and how they are dressed in the show. The show uses 80s-era music like Kate Bush, whos song “Running up that Hill” was featured in an iconic episode last season.  The nostalgia soundtrack also includes songs like “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash. I like hearing these songs because in my real life I am only surrounded by contemporary music, mostly rap and pop, so the show gives me a chance to expand my music knowledge.

Secondly, I also agree with what this site had to say about the character development. The characters grew and changed and grew. Even Steve Harrington transformation from the “jock” to a more likeable person. As Men's Health reports, Steve was a bully but became a fan favorite for being helpful to the younger kids throughout each season. 

A third reason I love the show is that it has psychological depth. An article from Northeastern University explains that the upside shown is like a symbol for hidden fears. This article also notes that the show also represents real emotion like protecting friends, growing, and dealing with tough situations. I could not agree more, and because of the psychological symbolism in the film, you should watch it. 

I like Stranger Things because the suspense keeps you excited and always wondering what will happen next. The show builds tension in a way that makes you want to keep watching episode after episode. I also enjoy how every character acts differently, which makes the story feel more real and interesting.

Some people might disagree that Stranger Things is boring or maybe too scary because it has monsters and weird things happen. They might just say that the show is only for people into horror and weird things. My opinion on Stranger Things is better because the show is not just scary. It shows you how to make friends, the family problems in life, and trust.
