Erin S.
Erin S. is a 15-year-old sophomore at Airport High School. She has attended Airport since her freshman year and admits she was a little nervous to return for her second year after spending time at an alternative school. Erin has sometimes struggled with confidence, especially after being bullied from second through eighth grade. Once full of joy and silliness, she began to hold back in sixth grade after being teased for her outfits and behavior. Still, Erin works hard, makes good grades most of the time, and strives to do well in school so she doesn’t disappoint her family—a responsibility she takes very seriously.

Erin is the oldest of six siblings, with four brothers and one sister. Her parents divorced when she was 10, but she has since found peace with the situation. Her dad, who works at a bike shop and is also attending welding school, has remarried, while her mom works at O’Reilly’s auto parts store. Erin helps out a lot with her younger brothers and takes pride in being a supportive older sister.

Outside of school, Erin enjoys playing softball for the Midlands team. She also loves drawing, being creative, and playing video games. Her favorites are Minecraft and Roblox, though she sometimes plays Call of Duty with her brother. She enjoys walking and exercising, though she admits she prefers fast food over healthy eating.

Isabella F.
Isabella Fisher is in the 11th grade here at Aiport High School. Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, she has grown up watching her siblings play softball and golf, and would attend Trick or Treat Lane here at Airport as a young child. Despite coming from a sports-centered family, Isabella has taken interest in the arts and participates in honors chorus, school musicals, and is learning how to play the bass guitar. Her father jokes that they will form a band called the “Sloppy Joes” since he plays the drums.
In the past, she started taking English honors in 7th grade, and now Isabella is taking English Composition classes at Midlands Technical College as part of the Early College program. Having excelled in ELA since elementary school, she took up the challenge of this Journalism class. However, despite the only writing-related classes she has taken being ELA and having no prior experience in journaling, she quite enjoys writing. Growing up, being an author was one of her many dream jobs. Her favorite genre to write (and read) has always been nonfiction. In recent years, Isabella has taken an interest in reading news articles such as CNN and PBS, so news and media will be exciting for her to experience on the opposite side of the table–being the author.
She has a lot of interests and hobbies including singing, dancing, editing, completing word searches, playing video games, and plane spotting. In her spare time, Isabella enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her dogs Rylee, Magnolia, and Vespa, even if it means sitting there in a quiet room. If you see her around at school, she would seem like a quiet student who only talks when needed, however if you know her well, she is a talkative person who can go on and on about anything. She does not have anything specific she hopes to write about but hopes that whatever it is it will be inspiring and interesting. Isabella aims to contribute to The Eyrie by adding photography and interviewing students here at Airport High School.

Throughout his school years, Jahmarcus has taken multiple English classes and is currently enrolled in Creative Writing. He has written both long, ongoing stories and shorter pieces for himself. Much of the media he enjoys includes animated shows and fanfiction. Although he does not typically watch the news, he mentions that he finds Fox News somewhat appealing.

Outside of school, Jahmarcus enjoys writing, watching TV, browsing YouTube, playing video games, and imagining new ideas. His dislikes include horror movies, depressing content, unnecessarily long chapters in books, and the sour powder on sour gummies—he prefers the sour flavor to be in the candy itself. In his free time, he especially enjoys world-building, asking questions like: How does this world work? How would magic being so casual affect everyday life? How might religion create conflict over the proper use of magic?

His personality has often been described as introverted, smart, adaptable, creative, and quiet. Jahmarcus hopes that during his time in The Eyrie, he can write something that will become known schoolwide. While he admits this might be ambitious, he remains hopeful.

Zion P.
Zion Peterson, is a 14 year-old, freshman student of Airport High School. Zion, was born on June 23 of year 2011, in the country of South Carolina. Zion, does not participate in any extracurricular activities such as, baseball, football, basketball, nor soccer.
Though Zion, doesn’t participate in any extracurricular activities, he one day hopes to become a good chief in the city of Paris, which is located in the northern central France, specifically in the Île-de-France region.
Besides that, if Zion’s plan to become a baker fails, then he hopes to become a writer, one that can impress his parents with his work and show the world what he can create.
Zion, has stated that his favorite anime of all time is Re:Zero. He says that it holds a special place in his heart. So special in fact, that Zion was inspired by the anime Re:Zero, to become a writer of his own story.
Zion, has also stated once before that his favorite candy to eat, most of the time, is skittles. Though, while his favorite food is skittles, he says that it sometimes makes his stomach hurt to the point where he isn’t able to eat anything for a while.
Zion has also stated another thing, he sometimes, at home or in public, has drastic nosebleeds that can get pretty alarming depending on what kind of state he’s in. For an example that Zion gave us, he says that during the times when he has nosebleeds, he sticks a tissue up his nose to stop the bleeding for a period of time. But sometimes, that tissue doesn’t really help with the situation, because when he pulled out the tissue in his nose once before, blood came down drastically from in his nose towards the toilet that was below him.
Well, enough on the subject of nosebleeds. Let’s now talk about Zion’s favorite holiday. Zion tells us that his favorite holiday of all time is Christmas then next would be halloween. But anyway, Zion has stated his reasons for Christmas being his favorite holiday. The reason Christmas is Zion’s favorite holiday, isn’t just because he’s a christian and believes in God, but also because it’s a time of friendship and giving.
Christmas to Zion isn’t about receiving, but more about giving to other people and spending time with the ones you cherish and hold dear to yourself. Christmas can also be a time for hope and comfort, as people will come together and try their hardest to have a good time with each other. It’s a beautiful thing to witness/be a part of.
Well, that was all for our talk with Zion Peterson. He says, he hopes to do great things during this school year of being a freshman, and can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and wraps up.
