Autumn T.
​
Autumn is a 10th grade student who goes to Airport High School. She is 15 years old, and was born May 23, 2007. She is the oldest daughter of four, and has one older brother. Autumn lives in Lexington, South Carolina. She stays after school in the summer dealing with Softball. "Softball is my motivation, it gives me something to be good at,” she states. There aren't any courses that she has taken to prepare her for The Eyrie. Autumn doesn't really have any prior writing experience, besides the essay she has written in English l and ll. Autumn doesn't really have a watch or any experiences in the news or articles. Besides school she loves playing softball and volleyball. In the little spare time she gets she draws, sleeps, and listens to music. Autumn's personality is very diverse, which makes sense because she is a Gemini. She is a people pleaser, she puts others before herself. When she is upset she is quiet and when she's mad she cries. There is nothing that really makes Autumn mad or show hate toward someone, it takes a lot to make her feel that way. Autumn is also very distant, she hates showing emotions and opening up to people. Overall she is sweet and will do her very best to make people happy. She hopes to write about sports and famous athletes during The Eyrie such as, “Lamelo Ball, Stephen Curry, and Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior.” Autumn loves making artwork and taking photos. “I have over 7,000 photos in my phone, in which half of it is of nature, and people,” she states.” She has loved art ever since 4th grade, it shows her creativity and imagination.
Brandis S.
​
Brandis S. is a 16 year old sophomore at Airport High School. She tends to get good grades and keep up with her work. So far, she has been taking lots of honors classes since she started here. Brandis tries to keep up with her attendance and make sure she is at school on time everyday. Around Airport she is very well known and has many friends here. She tries to keep up a good reputation and stay out of trouble at school. She just wants to graduate. Brandis is a very hard worker and strives to be great everyday.
So far, Brandis has not taken any classes to help her with her writing. Reading and writing have always been her favorite subjects though ever since elementary school. She has had assignments in the past where she had to write a blog post, an essay, or even a letter. Her favorite tv shows are like true crime, thriller, or mystery. Brandis has never been the type to sit and watch news, unless it was something like Dateline or The First 48.
Besides school, in her free time, Brandis hangs out with friends, sleeps, works, and goes to the skating rink. She likes laying on the beach and getting sand in her hair, singing in the shower and taking hours, and eating all kinds of new/good foods. Brandis’s therapy is music. Whenever she is feeling stressed or just needs to chill she turns on her playlist and it calms her down. She would like to be more involved in school activities such as this newsletter, she hopes to get better at writing, doing artwork, and more.
Erin J.

Erin J. is a sophomore that attends Airport Highschool, born and raised in West Columbia, South Carolina, where she now lives. She is not currently participating in any extracurricular activities in Airport. She has taken English I, English II and English III Honors and enjoys watching the news channels WIS News 10, Good Morning America and CNN News. Erin has a interest in the economic and political side of the news. She also enjoys watching and sharing opinions about news reports inside her community. Erin’s personal interests would be catching up on the news updates (locally and nationally) and she hopes to write about local and international issues along with some contentious opinions in society and conspiracies. Out of school she enjoys going on runs around her neighborhood, traveling, working out, manicuring her nails and going to places around the community. Her personality is some-what reserved but can be extroverted when she feels it is the time to. What she hopes to write about on the Eyrie are local and international issues, social issues and local topics. Another contribution she would like to make would be providing photography about the article she is writing about. She feels that a visual representation of a article she is writing is important for the reader to understand the point she is trying to get across.
Ever V.

Ever V. is a 16 year old teen that has been in and out of situations constantly, whether that is mentally or just in general in life. Like everyone, Ever V. has his ups and downs in life; there are days that’ll go good, days in life that’ll feel horrible, and days in life where it's the best day ever. The thing is, what has he been doing to get where he wants to be? Ever V. been figuring out plans to improve himself not just school wise but on things he needed in life that would be useful to him. The first thing Ever V. did was looking for a driving instructor to help him get his full license. At the time Ever V. already has his permit so all he needed was his drivers license. Ever V. knew there would be pros and cons with this though. He knew that if he took the classes he would have less time at home. This was bad in the way that when there’s homework he would come home late and have to stay up doing it, but the good thing is that he would get his license. So Ever V. decided to take the course and he hopes to succeed so to move on to the next step on getting a job again.
Isaiah P.​
Most people call him Zay, and he's 16 year old Sophomore at Airport High School. He was born in Lexington, South Carolina but lives in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Zay participates in extracurricular activities such as basketball and is starting track next year. He wants to play for a D2-D1 or NAIA college after he graduates. After college he wants to play basketball on the next level. Either he wants to make it to the NBA or play overseas. He has been wanting to play professional basketball since he was in 7th grade.
Zay does not have any media experience in writing in a news or even writing news at all. He only recently even learned about Dr.R’s class. Classes he has taken that might have helped prepare him prepare for his role on The Eyrie are his previous English classes, and he's definitely good at writing essays since that's the only kind of writing done in those classes. He has never really thought about writing in the news but it's really not that bad now that he's doing it. He used to watch FOX-19 with his grandad but now he can just go on the internet and see what's going on because usually that's where everything is at.
Besides school, Zay really likes going out and playing basketball or even going outside and shooting around. He also likes listening to music. He mainly listens to rap and r&b music since that's what he grew up on. Some of his favorite artists are Drake, Future, and Alicia Keys. When his is at home, he is usually on my phone, outside, or at his aunt's house. He is interested in watching anime and cartoons like The Boondocks. He doesn't really know what he wants to write about, but he kind of likes to write, so whatever interests him will be the direction he takes.
Jada B.
​
Jada is a sophomore at Airport High School. She was born in Lexington, South Carolina and resides there to this day. Jada has been interested in music since she was a kid, and she specifically took a liking to guitar. Jada knows how to play electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. She has been playing for about 10 years now, as Jada got her first guitar when she was 6 years old. Schoolwise, Jada always took a better liking to English and Science subjects, as reading, writing, researching outer space, the Earth, and forensics were things Jada enjoyed doing. Jada has many notebooks filled with notes written down about true crime cases, true crime was something Jada liked to research and listen to. Jada also liked researching historical art. Jada likes to write down notes since she has a hard time remembering things; it helps her keep things that she needs to remember in her mind. Jada really appreciates how patient her teachers are with her, since she struggles a lot with mental health; patience is all Jada needs from people because it’s easy for her to get overwhelmed. If music doesn’t work out for Jada she hopes to write about true crime cases one day, whether it be in a newspaper or a book.
Janiyah H.

Janiyah H. is a sophmore student at Airport High School who was born and raised in Columbia, SC. At the moment she doesn't participate in any extracurricular activities or sports for Airport High , but when she goes to college she hopes to find one that she would be interested in, perhaps majorette or cheer.

Janiyah has taken English l, English ll, and English lll Honors at Airport as well as journalism and much more. On a free day Janiyah enjoys spending her time shopping, listening to music, traveling, and relaxing. She likes to spend time with her family and friends as well as to make new memories no matter what the memory is. Janiyah is an entrepreneur who takes her business life very seriously outside of school; but not only that, she models as well. Janiyah has done many competitions and even walked in New York fashion week.
She never had an interest in journalism but now since she's in it she is excited to learn more about the media and is excited to be writing about real life topics that's going on within our society. Janiyah is a hard worker and a dedicated young lady. In the future Janiyah hopes to become a big entrepreneur who everyone knows of and pursue her dream to become a model which she has already started working towards.
Ja'Sia B.

Ja’sia B. is a 16 year old sophomore here at Airport High School. Born September 18 in the year 2006. She was born in Lexington hospital and raised in South Congaree, where she currently still resides. She is on the Girls Varsity basketball team. For which she has been a part of since 8th grade.
Although she has very little qualifications, she has completed English I, II, and III and has also completed the Fundamentals of computing course where she learned how to create and edit websites. She often watches the WLTX News 19 morning show for the news. Ja’sia has been in AVID for 3 years, starting in middle school up until the fall semester of her 9th grade year.
Her favorite food is wings, fries, and brownies, while she dislikes anything with cheese. Her favorite snacks include Oreos, Little Bites, and Hot Cheetos. Her favorite drink is any kind/flavor of cranberry juice and cold water. In her free time she likes going to the gym with her sisters, listening to music, reading, and watching Tiktok. Ja’sia can be described, at times, as an ambivert. She likes being outgoing and fun while other times she enjoys being by herself.
Jesse P.

Jesse P. is a 15 year old sophmore who has been at Airport for two years. He was born at Lexington Medical Center on May 5, 2007. Jesse is an only child and lives in Columbia, South Carolina with his mom, dad, and dog. Jesse does not play any sports but likes to watch football in his free time (especially college). Outside of school he likes to spend time with his family, and go fishing with his dad
He has taken English 1, and 2. He was put in Journalism class not having a clue what it was or what to do in the class. He doesn’t really have an interest in writing and doesn’t do it unless he has to, but he’s sure if he tries his best the class will not be bad at all. He does not really like school but knows if he tries his hardest it will go by in no time.
Although he doesn’t watch the news and doesn’t like to get in the middle of political debates, he hopes to succeed in his journalism class and post interesting articles about a variety of topics about things going on at Airport and in the world.
Jonathan U.-F.

Johnathan is a 15 year old sophomore at Airport High School. He was born on February 15, 2007, in Lexington, South Carolina. He likes to read, and occasionally write, and he likes to go on road trips. He doesn’t play any sports, but he likes going to the gym, and playing soccer with friends. He occasionally watches the news in the afternoon, or reads the news online. He believes writing for The Eyrie will help him become a better writer and improve on his vocabulary and sentences. He loves to build legos, especially lego cars, and he also enjoys playing the piano, as his favorite pieces to play are classical pieces.
Johnathan wants to either do welding or be a mechanic, as well as possibly an electrician, after he graduates from High School. He hopes to get a certificate in one of those fields, so he can start working after he completes High School. He likes any genre of music, but especially enjoys classical as it amazes him each time how such complex pieces were made back then. He hopes to write interesting articles for The Eyrie, and contribute in articles. His current goal is to graduate from high school and to start working to buy a car and a house.
As for now, Johnathan will continue to try his best to write to the best of his ability, and for The Eyrie.
Karennalyz S.-P.

Karennalyz is a very open, straightforward person who can sometimes come off as arrogant but truly is a very kind and caring person. She was born in Puerto Rico Manati, surrounded by loving neighbors and a beautiful family. Karennalys is a sophomore at Airport High School located in South Carolina. She is a very extroverted person. After school she tends to go out with friends rather than stay home. She is a very athletic person, she likes sports like Basketball, Football, and Weightlifting. Karennalyz never imagined herself taking a journalism class mostly because she has never been interested in things like writing and reading, the opportunity was forced upon her with no other course of action to interfere with that decision. She was very hesitant at first to take Journalism mostly because she saw no interest in it; she never even read an article and much less ever paid attention to a news report. Karennalyz's teacher, however, convinced her otherwise to give it a shot. She still to this day has no interest in journalism whatsoever although her feelings towards journalism are skeptical. She never lacks when it comes to putting her all into something no matter the occasion it's for. Besides Karennalyz taking pride and responsibility with her school work she also makes sure to take time off for herself and things she enjoys. Karennalyz likes listening to music, shopping online, sports cars, and shoes. In Addition Karennalyz dislikes being around unfamiliar people and places. In her spare time Karennalyz tends to spend time in her room listening to music, talking to friends, cleaning, and cooking. Aside from all of this, Karennalyz is a very responsible, funny, chill, straightforward, confident person that many people tend to get along with.
Katie C.

Katie C. Is a sophomore at airport highschool. She was born and raised in South Carolina. She participates in extracurricular activities such as attending church at Holland Avenue, hunting, hanging out with friends and playing volleyball for Airport high school and her club team.
Katie has taken English 1 at Fulmer middle school and English 2 and 3 Honors here at Airport high school. While she does not have any experience writing articles, she has always enjoyed writing essays, writing in her personal journal, and reading articles. For the Eyrie, she would love to write about airport’s sports and bring light to less popular sports. Something that she would like to contribute to The Eyrie is photography, specifically of athletics.
In her spare time, Katie loves doing bible studies, playing volleyball with her teammates, spending time with her friends and family, and shopping with her mom! Katie likes the movie Snow White, Mexican food, and watching college volleyball. Some things she dislikes are math, Clemson, sunburns, hot coffee, and bad practices. To describe Katie's personality, I would say she is friendly, loves to laugh, competitive, and encouraging. She is very excited to see how her writings turn out for the eyrie and is ready to learn more about journalism!
Kimberly S.

Kimberley S. is a sophomore at Airport High School. She was born on October 10th, 2006 in Lexington, South Carolina. Kimberley resides near North Edenwood in Cayce, South Carolina. She is a sophomore senator who is active in student government as part of her extracurricular activities.
At Airport High School, Kimberley has taken English 1 Honors, English 2 Honors, and is currently enrolled in English 3 Honors. She has so far performed well in each of these courses. She had no prior journalism experience, but she wanted to try it out.
Kimberley S. enjoys spending time with her friends, enjoying music outside of school, and helping her sister in managing her small business. Kimberley dislikes crowds of people, loud noises, and the heat of the South. She creates jewelry in her free time and spends time with her family. Kimberley is extremely reserved unless you are close to her. She aims to be as unbiased as possible while writing in The Eyrie about the things she observes throughout her schooldays. By doing things in a way that people can understand and relate to, as well as by spreading positivity, she hopes to contribute to the Airport High School Eyrie.
Macie M.

Macie M. is a sophomore at Airport High School. She has played softball at Airport High for 4 years now. Also has been on the Airports Varsity softball team for 3 of the 4 years. She was born at the Lexington Medical Center, on January 9, 2007. She lives with her mom, dad, and brother in Columbia, South Carolina.

She has only taken English 1 so far but is currently in English 2 right now. She has not started her journalism career till now. Other than that she is excited to start her journalism career at Airport High School.
Outside of school, Macie M. likes going shopping, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, going to the beach, and enjoys playing travel ball over the summer and fall. Macie M. dislikes tomatoes, people being really loud, people being rude, and being really sunburnt. Her personality is shy until you get to know her, she is usually energetic, happy, fun, and outgoing. She hopes to write about her love for the sport of softball in The Eyrie. Another contribution she plans on adding to The Eyrie is photography.
Mikenzy D.

Mikenzy D. is a sophmore at Airport High School. She was born in Porterville, CA on July 2, 2007. Mikenzy lives in Gaston, South Carolina off Capitol View. Her extracurricular activities include actively participating in student government as a sophomore senator, traveling, swimming, and hanging out with family and friends!
Mikenzy has taken English 1, and is taking English 2 this year here at AIrport High School, and has done well in these courses so far. She does not have any past experience in journalism but she wanted to give it a try.
Outside of school, Mikenzy D. likes cooking; going shopping; getting her nails done, along with doing nails. Mikenzy D. dislikes orange juice with pulp, loud noises, and whenever it gets too hot. In her spare time she does nails and tries her best to practice, and she also likes to call her friends and spend time with her sisters. Mikenzy's personality traits are happy, funny, outgoing, but she can be sarcastic. In The Eyrie she hopes to write about the positive things she sees throughout her school days while also being as unbiased as possible. She plans on contributing to the Airport High School Eyrie by doing things in a way that people can understand and relate to, along with spreading positivity.
Nia J.

Nia J. is a fourteen, soon to be fifteen, year old 9th grader at Airport High School. She was born on January 14, 2008 on a busy Monday morning in Columbia, SC. At Airport High Nia has been on the marching/concert band and has been on the track team her 8th grade year! She plans to have a successful and happy freshman year!
Nia Jenkins' qualifications for the Eyrie are her previous English classes that she has taken over the years. Nia Jenkins also has writing experience from the writing tests she has taken over the years to prepare her. Nia has always enjoyed reading interesting articles from journalists, bloggers, reporters, and more. Nia also enjoys watching different news outlets with interesting and important information about different topics.
In her free time she enjoys watching YouTube, singing karaoke, dancing, playing video games, listening to music, producing beats, and writing songs and raps. Her interests are music, science, fashion, acting, and anything that makes her laugh, to name a few. She loves laughing, positive vibes, and having fun with friends and family! Her favorite colors are lavender and green. Nia would be described as a sweet, shy at times, fun-loving person. She plans to contribute interesting, insightful, entertaining pieces of work to The Eyrie!
Odalis O.-G.
Odalis O. Is a 15 year old sophomore at Airport high School. She was Born in Ecuador, Guayaquil, on January 29. She used to live In New York, Queens but now she lives in Gaston, South Carolina. She loves to draw and play the piano. She likes music and dogs.
She enjoys hanging out with her family and friends. Outside of School Odalis O. likes Seafood, swimming, and playing Volleyball and going to the fair. Also in her spare time she likes to play with her niece and try food recipes from different countries.
Every summer break she goes to New York, Queens, to spend time with her mothers family. She has a pomeranian dog who loves to go to the park.
Odalis hope to graduate from high school and look for a job in South Carolina for 1 year and then she wants to move to New York, Queens. Odalis doesn't want to spend the rest of her life in South Carolina. She likes the city and the buildings. She also likes to travel, she plans to save money for travel and buy some houses in Ecuador and one in the U.S.
She's still not sure if she wants to do that or go to college and be a dentist.
Owen S.​
Owen S. was born at the Lexington Medical Hospital on September 10th of 2004 and has lived in the town of Springdale his whole life. He is currently a senior at Airport High School. He has some experience in photojournalism and graphic design from his time as a member of the school’s yearbook staff. He has been a part of the staff for three years and an editor for two.
Owen has been highly interested in photography for nearly six years. It was his love of photography that made him want to join the yearbook staff, and his love for creating the yearbook that made him interested in journalism. He hopes to grow and improve as a photographer as he gets older and one day be able to sell his photos and turn a hobby that started when he was 12, into a career. In the meantime, he manages an instagram account where he posts his pictures for others to enjoy.
His other interests include writing and music, along with video games, movies, and other forms of visual art. He is inspired by his favorite bands, which includes The Strokes and Red Hot Chili Peppers, to learn to play the electric guitar in the future and write his own music as a hobby. He is also very passionate about the film world. Some of his favorite movies are Knives Out, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. As a writer for The Eyrie, Owen would like to discuss his thoughts and feelings for movies that interest him, and possibly contribute his photography work as well.
Valeria P.-G.​
Valeria P. is a sophomore student attending Airport High School. She was born in South Carolina on June 13, 2007. She lives with her parents and an older sister who also attends Airport High School as well as a younger brother in kindergarten. She is a member of the Beta Club and used to be in the school band, where her instrument was the flute. She is glad to be one of those able to write for the school newspaper as she loves to read books and articles so being able to write her own articles is a very exciting thing for her. Though it is her first time experimenting in the field of journalism she will do her best to make interesting pieces for readers of our newspaper The Eyrie. Her goal as a writer on The Eyrie is to write captivating articles that are of topics she feels passionate about and would like people to turn their attention to as well. In her spare time apart from reading she also enjoys crocheting, baking sweets, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends. One of her favorite things is going to the riverwalk and eating shaved ice during the summer time.
