Varsity Volleyball wins over rival team Brookland Cayce

On September 25, 2023 Airport High School's Varsity Volleyball team won in four sets against their long time rivals Brookland Cayce High School.
This game gave the volleyball team another win. That win gave the team high spirits to go into their next game against Aiken High School, which was a big region game.
Both JV and Varsity teams won their games, but Varsity lost 1 set in the beginning of the match.
Airport’s volleyball team had the biggest number of supporters that night then they have had all season. With all of the cheers from the fans the team came back from their lost set to win the rest of the game.
When asked how the game went, senior Santana R. said, “The game was great with high energy and great rallies.”
Santana R. also said, “As a senior, it’s always a good feeling to beat your rival for your last year.”
Another senior, Abby S., said, “It was filled with excitement, but sadness as it was another last of my senior year.”
Most people thought it was a good game, especially supporters from Airport since the rivalry between the two schools runs deep.
Airport and Brookland Cayce have been rivals since 1958, when Airport was first built. This rivalry comes from both schools being in the school district Lexington Two. The two teams are known as the Eagles and the Bearcats.
Airport’s volleyball team has had a tougher year with 5 wins and 12 losses. Though they have come out on top both times they played the Brookland Cayce Bearcats.
The volleyball team only has one game left against Wagener Salley on October 16, 2023. If you would like to come support the Lady Eagles you can buy the tickets at the door or online.
