Top 10 teachers @ Airport

Good teachers make up the high school experience. One article from Southern New Hampshire University states, “Some qualities of a good teacher include skills in communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy and patience. Other characteristics of effective teaching include an engaging classroom presence, value in real-world learning, exchange of best practices and a lifelong love of learning.” Through informal student surveying, the list below was complied. Find out which teachers students like at AHS.

10. Mrs. Mooneyham, Science Teacher

Not only is Mrs. Mooneyham a great teacher, but she's also funny. You can always hear her laughing with students when you pass her room.

9. Mrs. K., Science Teacher

Often called the “nicest teacher at Airport”, Mrs. K always has something going on. From crazy experiments to a waffle lab, she definitely sparks student interest.

8. Mrs. Altman, Science Teacher

Not only is she a good teacher, but her room is pretty cool. Her unique love for Chuck Norris is shown through numerous posters.

7. Coach Hutchins, PE Teacher

She is often described as the “laid back” PE teacher. She is always willing to help out and participate in things.

6. Mrs. Burge, Librarian

She's a librarian you can talk to about anything. If you ever need help on something you can always rely on her.

5. Mrs. Muller, Librarian

Mrs.Muller is definitely a student favorite. From hosting a book club almost every friday and having karaoke days, she sure knows how to have fun.

4. Mr. Samuels, History Teacher

Mr. Samuels is not only an amazing and helpful teacher, but he makes sure students have fun while also giving them many opportunities to get their grade up. He also helps with Lex 2.5, showing us as students that he cares about attendance and tutoring for extra help.

3. Mr. Cokely, Content Recovery/ Edgenuity

His fun personality is why everyone loves him. Cokely always makes students feel like family. Danie Z. said, “Although I'm not one of his students, he makes me feel welcome. Whenever I pass him in the hall he asks me about my day."

2. Mrs. Martinez, Spanish Teacher

From being a Spanish teacher to the Student Government advisor, Mrs. Martinez can do it all. Her determination to get things done is why students love her.

1. Mr Rivers, History and AVID Teacher

Everyone at Airport loves Mr. Rivers. From doing challenges to dressing up as a princess, Rivers knows how to make students have fun. Not only does he let his students have fun but he also makes them feel safe. Karmen R. a student at AHS, says, “Rivers not only makes students feel safe and welcomed in his classroom, but he also is a good role model and makes sure nobody is left out.”

Honorable Mention :

Mrs. Reaves- Although she is a substitute she is a student favorite. Students say she “can relate to them” and that “she always listens to you”. If she has had you before and you are respectful she will always respect you.
