Students should spend less time on their phones
By Jacob R.
Students spend around eight hours on their phones per day according to fortune. This issue is timely because the new phone rule is coming january. Phones will be banned so the issues on phones in school is a hot topic. Some think that phones are good because of the dopamine it gives you. Some think otherwise. Students/teangers should spend less time on their phones, both in school and out of it.
When you first get a phone you're on it a lot. I mean it's something new you can talk to friends, watch videos, and play games on it. But that's what starts the addiction when you are on it so much it becomes a habit. You wake up, get on your phone, get home watching TikTok, eating and you get on your phone. And that can make one spend less time with one's family.
When someone is on their phone during class time you don't pay attention to the lesson. That can cause your grades to drop. Or even just while you're at home you might need to study. But you decide to watch TikTok or call friends. While you should be doing your homework or even studying for an upcoming quiz or test.
Phones can get you distracted. I get my fair share of distractions. But when that is at night it can go wrong, it can mess up your sleep schedule and when that happens you can sleep through alarms or be tired at times where you should be up and ready to go. Being at school and sleeping in class is never a good idea. You will not be awake for the lesson, you can get in trouble. There's so much wrong with staying up on your phone even just 45 minutes later
Some might say that being on your phone a lot is good. For the reason it helps entertain. And it gives you intelligence. In response to this claim,it might help entertain but it gives you a false sense of reality. When it comes to intelligence you get answers from Google, which you can access from your Chromebook and does not require a phone.
Dakota J., a Caucasian boy in the 9th grade, said, “When I had a phone I was on it a lot and got bad grades. I dont have one right now and my grades are doing better.”
Kingston H. said, “I got a phone and sometimes I be on it too much but sometimes I need to take breaks.”
Students/teenagers should spend less time on their phones, both in school and out of it. This thinking is obviously what the new state provisions banning phones is meant to accomplish. Stay tuned to see how that goes.
