Students react to alleged drama between Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber

Throughout the past few weeks, the feud between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber has resurfaced. Gomez’s fans have been trolling "the proud nepo baby," Hailey Bieber, with reminders of how obsessed she once was with Jelena, Justin and Selena’s ship name. Many students at Airport are talking about this and the controversy is only growing.

This alleged drama started after Selena posted a photo of herself with over-laminated brows on instagram. Kylie Jenner then posted a screenshot on her Instagram story, tagging Hailey, where they only had their brows on display.

Jenner and Gomez both called out the backlash from fans for “reaching” on Hailey and Kylie's Instagram comments, this was until a video of Hailey appearing to gag when Taylor Swift’s name was mentioned resurfaced.

Many fans are still talking about it on snapchat, instagram, twitter, and many youtubers have posted videos discussing this topic.

Gomez’s fans are calling Kylie and Hailey mean girls and unfollowing their social media accounts. Fans are also bringing up the fact that Justin ‘married a fan’ and how obsessed Hailey once was with Jelena.

Some students are saying this drama is unnecessary, but most are taking sides and have a lot to say about all of the people involved.

Karmen R., a student at AHS says, “I think that Hailey’s really stuck up. Selena is nothing but nice and this bottle blonde try-hard is being rude to her. I didn't even know who she was until she got married to Justin.”

Another student, Tristen R., says, “I mean if my husband’s ex was beautiful, kind, and had more talent in her small toe than I had overall I'd feel threatened too.”

Many students are agreeing with these statements saying Hailey and Kylie are both “mean girls,” comparing them to Regina George in the movie Mean Girls.

Overall, we can come to a conclusion that students and people all over the world have many things to say about this situation. People on TikTok have even been using sounds saying “the girlies are fighting..”

This isn’t the first controversy that the Baldwin family has been in. In 2021 Alec Baldwin, Hailey’s Uncle, fatally shot actress Halyna Hutchins on the set of rust. He also injured director Joel Souza on the set.

Local coffee shops like The Human Bean and Starbucks have even started writing Selena or Hailey on their tip jars.
