Review on Rod Wave's new album 'Nostalgia'
by Kaylah W.
Up and coming artist Rod Wave, recently known for his previous albums, is getting a lot of noise from his most recent album. Not only are a lot of young people listening to his new album, older people are as well. His album is for everyone and a lot of students at Airport High School are listening to it too, claiming that nostalgia is “his best album yet.” In this review the readers will better understand why or why not they should listen to the new album, Nostalgia.
Rod Wave, a 25-year old rapper was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL, went viral for his single “Heart on Ice.” Rod Wave had a tough upbringing, as stated in many of his songs and although he endured a lot as a child, that didn't stop him from becoming who he is today. In a lot of his songs he talks about how he overcame so much, and in his recent Album “ Nostalgia” really hits home. This album not only lived up to its name “Nostalgia” it takes the reader back to the young life of Rodarius Green. Showing his hardships in his songs in his album and how he overcame them. This is probably one of his best album yet reaching the #1 spot in top albums today.
Nostalgia: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. When most people think of the word nostalgia they think of a time that brought them peace mostly in the younger days. However when listening to it the reader almost here’s the opposite.
The album’s name couldn't be a better fit for it. Not only does it capture its overall essence it really does live up to the word nostalgia.
When listening to this song and many other of Rod Wave’s songs one thing the reader might pick up on is the flow. The flow of all his songs in the album almost feels as one song ends and a new one starts; it's like the first one never ended. The way he set the songs in the order he did go together without feeling the lack of cadence.
“Rod Wave’s music has a way of capturing raw emotions,” said Naashon F., a student at AHS. The feeling the album gives the listener gives them the sense of overcoming but still keeping it fun, and it makes the reader know that although their upbringing is challenging, with hard work and dedication and chasing their dreams, the outcome will be way better.
As a fan and a listener of rod wave I can personally say that when listening to his music I feel better almost as if my problems now in this moment are only small compared to my future, his music helped me get over relationships and my upbringing, helping me realize that the feeling I’m feeling won’t last forever. “It’s like reliving those moments and connecting with the emotions tied to them,” said by Naashon F.
If I was to rate this album it would be a 9/10. This album can be listened to by anyone since it's on any music streaming site but I would suggest listening to it if they are a fan of rap or just love good music.
