Review of 'Nostalgia,' Rod Wave's newest album

by Shamirah G.

At Airport High School lots of kids love Rod Wave and play his music throughout the day. Lots of kids can relate to his music.Rod Wave is from St. Petersburg, Florida and is currently 25 years old. Rod Wave was born on August 27, 1998. He has recently released a new album called Nostalgia. He is known for his strong, emotional lyrics often drawn from his own life experience. His music blends elements of hip hop, R&B, and trap. Nostalgia is an absolutely excellent album. More specifically, his lyrics are real, therapeutic, and deep literally and metaphorically.

First of all, I think his music is very helpful. It helps people tell their story and lots of people can relate to his music. His voice holds a lot of weight. Rod Waves lyrics are very heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies. I relate to his music a lot cause he talks about real life problems. In the fourth song on the Nostalgia album, “HG4,” he speaks about how people talk down but they don't know what he really got going on or what he’s going through. He also states “know you love to hear my song but are you feeling my pain.” To reiterate, Rod Wave’s songs are about real lifter struggles and overcoming them, which many people can relate to. In “Fight the Feeling,” the ninth song on Nostalgia, he said “You can keep passing up your pain, taking shots at the bar.” That was real because lots of people take their pain and start doing things like drugs and drinking a lot just because they don't know how to cope with their pain.

Rod Wave helps listers with things they may be going through. His lyrics often talk about struggles and overcoming obstacles, which can help listeners feel understood and less alone. It's like having a friend who gets what you're going through. Like in his song “Long journey” He talks about how he loves going on tour because the feeling is good and how people only need you when they know you got it but when you didn't have it no one called or checked on you. He also states how God finally made a way for him and thanks him for everything he gave to us.

Third, Rod Wave’s voice has a distinctive deep tone that adds an extra layer of depth to his songs. His music often tells stories from his own life, which adds authenticity . His emotive singing really brings the feelings home. It's like he's not just telling his story he's letting you feel it too.

One student, Jenae, said, “His album helps when I'm going through something, his voice is just different”.

“Rod Wave’s lyrics hit home. I literally can relate to most of his songs , that's why I listen to him,” said Aryanna, another student.

In conclusion, Rod Wave’s music helps people with things they're struggling with or things they’re going through.
