Ostensibly “cruel” restrictions on bathroom passes upset students
At Airport High School since the beginning of the first nine weeks of school, students have been very vocal about their feelings and thoughts about how many bathroom passes they get every nine weeks. As teachers announced in the first week what their hall pass policies were to be, some have been more strict than others. Teachers think that students will only need three bathroom passes until the next nine weeks. Students think this rule is ridiculous.
One student asserted,” My mom told me that if I have to go to the bathroom then to get up and go.”
A senior, who has just moved here, she asserted,” Its a change from my old school and I have had a hard time adjusting to this rule.” She also stated, “Teachers shouldn’t be able to dictate how many times we go to the bathroom.”
A teacher, who has worked here for many years, stated that, “ Teenagers mainly go to the bathroom to horse around so they don’t have to do work.” He also asserted,” If every five minutes students are leaving to go to the bathroom nothing will get done in the classroom.”
Clearly, teachers and students have way different opinions. Students think that there should not be any restrictions on bathroom passes. While teachers think that if kids don’t have restrictions then they would take it for granted.
Students can end up hurting themselves because holding in their liquids can cause kidney problems. Over time holding in the urine can weaken the bladder muscles. It can also cause urinary tract infections. Fox News stated, “ It’s incredibly rare and unlikely to happen to you, but your bladder can burst if you hold in your pee too much.”
