New exciting movie club formed
by Ty'Asia W.
Math teacher Mr. Swindler has started a new exciting movie club that will be held in room 204 every Friday after school, typically from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
Students at AHS can benefit from joining after school clubs, especially this movie club because it's a great way to connect with people and have a great time with fellow students.
The movie club will normally take place in Mr. Swindler's class but he plans to see if the club can go on a fun little trip to Lexington 2 performing arts center to watch a movie on their big screen that they have there. This will be a fun and exciting trip for students if it gets approved.
After talking to fellow students that have not heard about this club yet, they conveyed what their thoughts were and the most common question they have is if they'll be able to eat snacks while watching the amazing movies that will be played. The good news is yes! You can enjoy a snack. Lovingly enough, at the last movie showing Mr. Swindler even brought the students who are a part of the club bags of chips for them to snack on.
Students will be able to communicate with each other and have an educated discussion on the movies that are played and learn more about the history of the movies.
“The main goal of the movie club is to educate about films, films have been very important to society and have been around for years, it's important to know the history of it,” Mr. Swindler, the teacher running the club, said when asked about the goal of the movie club.
When asked about the process of getting the club started, Mr. Swindler also said, “Thanks to the hard work of Ms. Fowler and other Airport High School staff who worked with me to get the movies approved, it was quick and easy starting the club.”
Erin J., a senior here at AHS said, “This new club will be a great experience for students and relaxing, especially all these new rules students have to deal with.”
Although some people think the club will be good to join and a fun experience, others think a movie club shouldnt be considered a club because all they do is watch movies which they could just do at home.
Research from princetonview.com shows that participation in clubs can help when applying for college. If you're a senior now would be a good time to join a club to help build your college application. Film clubs can help provide young people a rare opportunity to be a part of something fun and creative. According to makerkinds.com The club can also help provide direction on life, you could join the club and find out you have a passion for film.
If you are interested in this club be sure to pick up a parent/guardian consent form that can be found in Mr. Swindler’s room 204. The next meeting will be held this Friday, September 12.
