Miss Aquila Pageant results in; see rundown of winners here

Ladies at Airport High School came together but also competed against each other in the 2023 Miss Aquila Pageant.

On February 25, 2023 the annually hosted pageant at airport high school was a success which contained 26 contestants including upperclassmen and lower classmen. Let's take it back a few… starting with preparation.

Ladies who attended the pageant were required to participate in three different categories which included the first one opening number, two theme wear, and lastly which was everyone's favorite number three evening gown. Since January 12 when the ladies were informed about the pageant, they had a chance to get everything together and figure out what they were going to do like the shopping, putting together ideas ,the planning and so much more.

This year's theme was Going Green so the objective was to make a theme wear outfit made out of recycling items yes recycling things. There were so many great ideas and so many beautiful outfits made, some were even made out of newspaper, paint sample cards, skirts made with tissue paper, also even an outfit made out of cardboard and CDs.

The theme changes every year and this year' theme just so happens to be the hardest.

So much thought and thinking came to create a nice recyclable look.

Other than that next we had the opening number.

Opening number consisted of a minute long dance which was danced to the song "Love so Soft" by Kelly Clarkson. Right after the dancing it was introduction time, each girl took the stand in numerical order with a short little introduction introducing themselves, most contestants took the stand and said something similar which basically consisted of something like, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen proudly representing whatever class they were in and their contestant number. This was the fun part all until we knew the big part was coming up … evening gown and that when all the nerves kicked in."

After all the easy stuff next was the most challenging, evening gown.

"Evening gown was the most challenging to me because it's so critique and everything you do in this part has to be perfect,you have judges staring at you, the crowd looking, and with all that you're still trying to make sure you're doing everything right," former contestant Janiyah H. says. "Challenging enough you have every eye in the building staring at you but family, friends, and even your teachers are watching you. Even with all the nervousness and fear at the end of it all."

Every lady who participated in the pageant did an extremely amazing job with Sydney E. taking home the crown for our new Airport High Schools 2023 Miss Aquila.
