Kento Nanami | 1990 - 2023

On a Thursday afternoon, November 23, Kento Nanami, while trying to protect his friends and other sorcerers, tragically lost their life due to an act of violence by Mahito. The death occurred in front of his former student Yuji Itadori. 

Nanmai was a former student at Jujutsu High, who was an underclassman of Gojo and Geto, two friends of his. Nanami initially leaves after graduating from Jujutsu High to become a salaryman but later returns after four years to continue to start a new journey and life of being a jujutsu sorcerer.  

He was a mature and collected individual who dealt with many situations and always knew what to do. He was known to be wise. Nanami was also a loyal and protective friend as Nanami deeply committed to his friends and colleagues willingly risking his safety for them. His commitment for justices communicated to others and inspired them to do the same. Nanami's absence is deeply felt by leaving behind cherished memories and his willingness to protect others even if it cost his own life. 

Ella H., a senior at Airport High School, states, “I was absolutely devastated, personally. He’s one of my favorite characters.” She expresses her emotions about how she felt about Nanami as he was known to be a kind soul. Another student who related to her sorrow.

Erin J., a senior at Airport High School, states, “Nanami was someone I got inspired by as he was brave enough to sacrifice his life for others. He makes me appreciate the friends that I have made along the way. I have been feeling sad ever since he has left us.”

Nanami’s legacy continues through the countless lives he touched. He will forever hold dear to our hearts for he was the one to protect us as with braveness and his considerate kind soul. A private ceremony honoring the brave Nanami himself will be held at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School. He can also support him and what he wanted to accomplish by donating to the Jujutsu Sorcery Research Foundation, supporting the fight against cursed spirits.
