In loving memory of Klaus Mikaelson
By Ty'Asia W.
Klaus Mikaelson, in the late afternoon of New Orleans, trying his best to save his family, made the biggest sacrifice and ended his life alongside his loving older brother. It was a fast and painless death. Although the show Vampire Diaries came out a while ago, it remains popular with students, and anyone currently watching this series is sure to mourn his loss when (spoiler alert!) he passes away.
During his long lived life, Klaus was both a vampire and werewolf, well known as “The Original.” He was the first to become a hybrid, which means there was no one else like him.
Klaus was born in Mystic Falls, Virginia, lived there for most of his adult life until he decided to make New Orleans his permanent home for his daughter to grow up in. He was a very complex and unique soul compared to others around him, both feared and admired by many in the first decade of his life, he changed and became a better person for his family.
Family was a key importance to him, it drove him to have a strong need to protect them as much as he was capable of during his time on earth. His family consists of four siblings Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Finn, and freya Mikaelson, and he had a daughter named Hope Mikaelson whom he loved very much, so much that he built a school for her. When his daughter was a teenager he wanted there to be a place that was safe for her and a place she could call home so he funded a private school for people with supernatural powers just like her. His family said his greatest accomplishment was his daughter, he always sought to build a legacy and his daughter was that for him. His loss is mourned by many people whose lives he impacted like Marcel Gerard, someone who he rescued as a little boy and raised him like he was his own son.
AHS student and Vampire Diaries fan Erin J. says, “Even though they told us he was gonna die, Klaus' death was still so unexpected he always had a way out of things but not this time it was really sad.”
The day of his death his family held a personal dinner in celebration of his life, talking and laughing of the childhood stories he and his siblings shared together.
Dominique M., another AHS student, says, “That moment was actually the most peaceful I have seen the whole Mikaelson family.” showing it was a peaceful goodbye for everyone, In the last moments of his life he felt nothing but love from his family; he died with content in his heart and lived with no regrets.
