For years now, I've seen people tracing art, using AI, or stealing art and claiming it as their own, when people can create their own masterpieces simply by practicing their skills and growing their experiences as an artist. Becoming better at art can significantly benefit students in general by fostering creativity, reducing stress, and improving cognitive functions. I know how hard it can be to do art because I have been doing art for most of my life, and it has helped me deal with stressful situations. Instead of doing the things listed above, I have come up with a few tips and tricks to improve your skills as an artist.

Understand Art Fundamentals: Understand the core concepts of art such as composition, form, shape, value, perspective, and color theory. These elements are the building blocks of art, and mastering them will help you create strong pieces of art.

Practice Regularly: Practice at least once a day for at least 1 hour. By doing this, you can set a goal for yourself during that hour of art practice.

Study and Analyze Art Theory/Techniques: Learn about the rules, principles, and science behind your art to improve your understanding and create more wonderful pieces.

Use References and Draw From Life: Use real-life examples like references to study angles, shapes, and details. Draw from observation whenever possible.

Study and Learn From Others: Learn about different art principles and explore various art styles like realism, abstract, or surrealism.

Get and Use Feedback: Get feedback from friends and family to see what needs to be fixed or worked on.

Build a Visual Library: Create a folder to collect all the different types of artwork you may like, to see what your future style may be interested in.

Be Kind to Yourself: Everyone starts somewhere; sooner or later, you find yourself through your artwork.

Use Thumbnails to Plan Your Artwork: According to Castlearts.com, “Thumbnails are a powerful tool for visualising and planning your composition. These quick, small sketches allow you to explore several ideas without committing too much time or energy and will give you the confidence to move forward with your project knowing that you've got a solid idea to develop.”

Thanks for reading my article on all 8 steps to become a better artist. Using these tips and tricks, I hope to help future artists improve their skills and succeed in their artistry.
