How the internet can help many people around the world

In AHS (and many other schools) we use our chromebooks/laptops to help us learn using the internet. This could also be used to save files, docs, slides, and many other things. It’s also used for grades, to put them in for students, to even sending out emails to inform people. The internet helps us well, that is with creating/doing things around the world, and helps with downloading files, even helping with education/talking to people, in general the internet helps with almost everything.

One specific way the internet is beneficial is with helping people get places. A GPS for example, a GPS can help guide you to any location around the world. This helps a lot to show that person where they can go, taking any route. GPS relies on many network satellites that orbit to the Earth to precisely get that person, or users in general location to support them. A GPS could also be used for mapping along the way, it could also track down an accident, or in general something to look out for on the way.

Another helpful role of computers and the internet is storing and accessing work and files. Computers, for example, can also help us with many things, such as saving files, watching videos, sending emails, or checking your classwork for school. Computers were originally used for being just a calculator, now they are used not only as a calculator, but for many other things. Computers could be used for data, research, and games. Many other things too, a computer is used to support others.

The main thing about the internet is Social media, and how it's used for many people to use, mainly for communication with other people. That could be family members, friends, co-workers, etcetera many more. It’s also used to create things, like making edits/adjustments to a photo or a video on your computer/phone. Many apps like Facebook for example, it’s used to communicate and post pictures, or videos of any events going on around the world.

A fourth and final reason why the internet is so great is that arguments against the internet are invalid. People who criticize the internet might say it is bad because it could have a general effect on physical health. However, this argument is problematic. Just because some may become unhealthy by spending too much time online doesn't mean all people will.

Looking at students to see what they had to say on this topic led me to Linwood L., who said when interviewed, “Well the main thing I like about the internet is how you can look up many things like cars, but most of the time I use youtube to help. Youtube is the main reason why I like the internet.” Jazmine B. said, “With the internet, I mainly like to use it to communicate with not only my friends, but also my family that are near and far away. I also enjoy using the internet to play games with my friends.”

In conclusion, there are moments where the internet is bad, but there are many times where the internet is important, that is for traveling, talking, researching, editing, making a google doc, making a google slides even having data on a sport.
