How do our seniors feel about graduating?

Names being called, parents cheering, walking across the big stage, diplomas, caps, gowns; that's graduation. Are the seniors ready? Let's find out.

How do you feel about graduating? Why?

Tyler D, 17, “I’m excited and anxious for graduation, it’s a milestone that I’ve been looking forward to for so many years and it’s really crazy how it’s actually almost here . I’m excited to go out into the ‘real world’ and see what’s in store for me. I’m a little anxious because even though I’m excited about graduation it’s bittersweet because I’ll miss high school and all that goes along with it.”

Naizja R, 17, “I’m ready for graduation, I’ve been working hard throughout high school and graduation makes it all worth it, it’s my reward for all those late nights and hard classes.”

Ali G, 17, “I feel kind of excited, kind of anxious to graduate, because I’m ready to start something new in my life but at the same time going out into the ‘real world’ is kind of scary. I really don’t know what to expect.”

Arianah J, 17, “I feel nervous and excited because I’m glad I finished high school and ready to become an adult and the nervousness is knowing that I am now going into the real world.”

Gracie S, 17, “Nervous but excited. I’m nervous to grow older and be in the real world, but excited to gain new experiences and opportunities.”

Lineth C, 17, “I have a lot of mixed emotions about graduation. It is so bittersweet. These four years I've spent at airport were draining but this is now my comfort zone. This is where I'm used to coming everyday. I’m so excited but scared to see the next chapter of my life.”

What plans do you have for graduation?

Tyler D, “The only plans I have for graduation is to have a party so I can celebrate.”

Naizja R, “For graduation I plan to get dressed up that day and go to eat with my family, after that hopefully a cruise.”

Ali G, “I don’t have any major plans for graduation I just plan on graduation and then getting ready for college and whatever's next.”

Arianah J, “My plans for graduation are going out to dinner and throwing a mini party to celebrate.”

Gracie S, “I plan to have a graduation party with all of my family and friends.”

Lineth C, “For graduation I plan to celebrate my accomplishments with the people I am the closest to that love and support me.”

Have you always had a particular image in your head of what graduation would be or feel like?

Tyler D, “I think the idea I have in mind is hearing my name being called and I walk across the stage and have a huge sense of accomplishment and I’ll feel proud of my hard work. I also have always imagined tossing my cap in the air but I don’t think they let us. But I know I’ll feel proud and relieved that my high school years and school work are done.”

Naizja R, “I’ve been to previous graduations at Airport so I imagine it’ll be kinda the same.”

Ali G, “I would imagine that I would feel a rush of emotions some happiness, some sadness, because I would be so ready to leave and get my diploma but I’ll also be sad to say goodbye to some people that I will probably never see again and to some amazing teachers that I will really miss.”

Arianah J, “I always pictured myself feeling excited, wearing a white dress with heels on under the gown and having braids, with a lot of my family members to see me walk the stage.”

Gracie S, “When I think of graduation I always imagined that I would feel older and more accomplished. I also have always pictured myself crossing the stage and throwing my cap.”

Lineth C, “I’m not sure what graduation will feel like entirely but i’ve always had the image in my head to celebrate with the people closest to me after the ceremony.”
