Four Idaho college students murdered; AHS students express fears
by Macie M.
In Moscow, Idaho on November 13, 2022, four Idaho students were stabbed and killed in their own home. Ethan Chapin (20), Madison Mogen (21), Xana Kernodle (20), and Kaylee GonCalves (21) were the victims. After traveling back home to his parents home in Pennsylvania, the killer was apprehended. AHS students, especially those with loved ones in college or about to attend college themselves, are more fearful than ever.
The most intriguing part about the case is that it could happen anywhere. It could have happened to one of our own students here at Airport High School. We don’t know what people are capable of these days in our crazy world. When things like this happens it creates panic upon lots of people. It gets people thinking what if that happened here in South Carolina.
Another interesting aspect of the crime was how it was later discovered that Khoburger did in fact visit the “coverage area” twelve different times before he committed the four homicides. Knowing that the victims were stalked prior to the murder adds a whole new creepy element to the crime.
It took news channels and sources a total of 6 weeks before they officially revealed that it was in fact Bryan Khoburger (28). He was found to be the one who murdered them after finding a knife sheath next to two of the deceased victims with his DNA found on it.
A 10th grade student here at Airport high school, Jayda J., stated, “It's interesting to know what was going through his mind while he was doing it.”
“I think he was an introvert which might have made it hard for him to talk to people and or make friends, and something they did could have made him upset or mad,” said Maddy R., a senior here at Airport High.
When asking about him studying Criminology in college Maddy R., stated, “I feel it would have given him an advantage to knowing some stuff already and that helped him with the murders.”
When asking people about their opinions there is more curiosity than controversy. People all over are wondering what drove him to committing the murders. They find it very unusual for that to happen to four innocent college students.
When the murders occurred on November 13, 2022, there weren't only the four people in the house that night there were also two other roommates, one who claimed to have seen Khoburger previously that night and later walking down their hallway with a black mask on and seeing his bushy eyebrows. The two roommates did not call the police until 11:58 the morning after, even after hearing cry’s from their other roommates. It is not yet discovered why Khoburger didn’t kill them, or why they didn’t contact the police earlier.
