Drama Club prepares for upcoming musical
by Reagan S.
Airport Drama Club is currently preparing for the upcoming musical. So far, rehearsals are positive and going well.
This year's fall musical is Anastasia. This musical will take place in the auditorium on November 9 through the 11.
Ms. White, the director of the musical said, “No one around here has done the show before, so it's something a little more different.”
The directors of this musical and a performer say that they are excited and looking forward to the musical. Avery M., a performer in the musical said, “At first it was very nerve wracking once I got casted as the role, but so far it has been going well. The directors are very nice and supportive.”
Rehearsals seem to be fun and easy going. They usually start with a vocal warmup, or if it is a choreography rehearsal, they will do a physical warm up. They work for about an hour, have a break, and then practice some more.
Some targets from our sources are that everyone works well together, remember lines, have fun, and do their best.
The setting of Anastasia is set in the 1920s in Russia and Paris. There were also some speculations about whether or not Princess Anastasia survived this revolution and whether or not the contents of the play are factual or legendary.
Ms. White states, “I would really like to elevate our technical aspects.” She also says “There’s some very interesting design opportunities for the costumes and set designs.”
There is very nice and beautiful music in the musical. When asked what she is looking forward to, Avery M. responded, “Probably the solo I get to sing.”
Tickets are going to be $10, or $5 with a Lex2 ID. The musical will start at 7pm on November 9 through the 11. Matinees will take place at 9am on November 10 and 2pm on November 11. Tickets are going to be available on GoFan.co.
