BC star wide receiver breaks leg weeks before rivalry game against Airport High

Jordan W., Brookland-Cayce wide receiver, broke his leg on September tenth, while playing a football game against Chapman High School in Inman, SC. Jordan was jumping up to catch the game ball and when landing, a Chapman player slammed on his leg, resulting in paramedics arriving and bringing Jordan to the hospital for immediate surgery.

With the big rivalry game last Friday against Airport High School, BC football fans feared that the injury would cost them a loss. But, the 35-0 win proved that the Bearcats persevered.

Jordan is not allowed to play football for the rest of the season and will not attend school until next month, although he is expected to return for the 2021-22 BC baseball season.

Teammates from both schools felt sorry for Jordan, as his injury could have cost him to lose his chance at college football, the next step after high school football.

When asked how he felt about his career ending injury, Jordan stated that it impacted him “heavily” and he feared losing his division one football interests. “I don’t want to say I lost them all,” Jordan said, “but it hasn’t been really good since I broke my leg.”

Marques H., football player for Airport High School, said the injury was “sad,” and he felt remorse for the situation. “Football means a lot to me and I’m sure it means a lot to him as well. We are all one community at the end of the day and we need to look out for each other,” Marques said.

Jordan is currently in rehab and focusing on getting better within the “next five months” in order to be better for baseball season. He is still in pain and on bed rest for a while for recovery.
