'Barbie' Review
by Aly G.
Recently, our school had a spirit week and one of them was to dress up as Barbie and Ken. A lot of students chose to dress on this day, reminding everyone of the hit movie of the summer starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. In this movie, it wasn't so bad, it was in between for me. Overall, I thought the movie was good. I liked the movie. Even though the movie was interesting how Barbie was slowly thinking about death, flat foot, and tasting plastic expired milk. She was becoming human and think like one, but when she told her Barbie friends, they freaked out when Barbie revealed her flat food and what had happened to her morning routine.
One aspect of the film is that it was more for adults than children even though it was based on a toy for children.
A second reason that I liked the movie was the clothing designs. I love the outfit that Barbie wore and fit her so perfectly. My favorite was the checkered pink dress and the dark blue dress with white ruffles at her wrist.
Third, I liked the acting. I love how Margot Robbie smiles brightly, how she walks and how she moves her body like a doll. I also like the soundtrack music in the movie. There is one song that I do like. It’s called “Speed drive.” by Charli XCX. I liked how it played during the scene of when Barbie was escaping from a CEO.
Students at Airport have shared their thoughts on the film as well, such as Liam S., who said, “The movie was interesting. I felt like a little kid again as I watched the movie.”
Another student said, “The movie made me laugh a lot. It was exciting and a nostalgic moment.”
Critics have mostly praised the film. One reviewer from Rotten Tomatoes said, “The best comedy that we have seen in a long time.” Another said, “It’s the perfect summer movie and one of the best funniest of the year.”
Overall, I rate the film 8.20 out of 10 stars.
