At the end of last school year, the AHS athletic director left his position several months before the end of the school year, causing us to hire a new AD. Mr. Fidler started this year and has done many things for Airport High.
Airports old athletic director was only here for a year before Mr. Fidler came in. Mr. Fidler has only been here since the end of last year, some people wonder if he will last.
In previous years, during their season athletes did not have to pay to get into other sporting events. This year due to Mr. Fidler that changes leaving most athletes upset. Due to having to pay to get into sporting events there had been a decrease in attendance to these sporting events.
Mr. Fidler also makes other changes at Airport, such as putting metal detectors at every entrance for any and all sporting events.
Mr. Fidler has also started upholding his athletes to a higher standard and encouraging their coaches to do so as well. Such has held them accountable for grades and other discipline as well.
Coach Fidler is also making a great effort to have a relationship with not only airport athletes but also the student body in general, by playing volleyball with the girls team and participating in PE activities
Coach Metts said, “As coach Fidler's coming in, I think he's going to make some good changes, there's definitely going to be some adjustments that need to be made but i think he's gonna get the airport going in the right direction. “Anytime you can improve communication with everyone it's gonna help the program,” Coach Metts also added.
