Adopting a child can be incredibly fulfilling

By De'Asia T.

We are in a world where abortions are popular and giving babies up for adoption isn't what people are opting for anymore. Some people say adopting leaves the children feeling grief, anger, and intense sadness as a result of not knowing their birth parents, others say regardless of the situation instead of opting for killing babies, give them to people who will genuinely care for them and provide them with a good life. Adopting a child can be incredibly fulfilling.

First of all, adoption benefits the adopted child and the parents who do the adopting.  Adoption gives a child in need a chance to have a loving and stable home along with a positive environment. For foster parents or adopting parents it’s a chance to grow their family and make a difference in a child’s life. According to PHYS.org, 77.7% of families stated that their lives have been happier as a result of the adoption and 91.9% consider its repercussions to be positive. An article from NPR, reporting on the findings of a national survey, notes that “the vast majority of adopted children are in good health and fare well on measures of social and emotional well being. Eighty-five percent of them are reported, by their parents, to be in excellent or very good health. And 88 percent of adopted children age 6 and older show positive social behaviors.” If both adoptive parents and adopted children find happiness through adoption, then that means adoption is a good thing.

Secondly, adoption is also good because it allows parents who cannot have their own biological children an alternative way to become parents.  Parents who have experienced child-loss, miscarriages, and even infertility may be seeking to adopt,  looking for a child they can love and care for. Your child might be the reason these grieving parents find happiness along with giving them the opportunity to build a family that might’ve never had without your child. Your child could be a blessing to someone else and their families.

A third reason why adoption is good is because it can lift the financial and emotional burden off from the teen mom. If you are a teen mom and aren't financially stable or maybe not even mentally stable to raise a child, adoption is a very good option. It gives them a possibility to live a certain lifestyle you could not give to them. There is also a good chance that your child will seek a relationship with you when they are older, so it’s not like you totally miss out on being a mother.

A fourth reason that adoption is beneficial is that because it is less controversial than other pregnancy prevention methods, such as abortions. Abortions should be banned in all areas because it’s morally and ethically wrong. Abortion is murder babies are not just a clump of cells and blood. It’s not your choice to decide if another human being lives or dies. You house them until they are matured and fully developed then they detach from you that isn’t your body. Adoption works in your favor and theirs, they can have a chance at life, grow up to be successful and you don’t have to be a parent to a child that you don’t want to raise and take care of.

“Yes. Abortion is murder and adoption would actually help the children not kill them,” one student, Hannah R., confirms.

With this being said, I personally and wholeheartedly believe that if you have a heart and are Christian you would say no to Abortions and yes to adoptions instead because they bless/ benefit everyone involved. Children are gifts from God. Babies are human and deserve to be treated and viewed as that. It is unfair to put some murderers away in prison and let these “patients” who kill innocent human beings walk around freely under the term “my body, my choice”. Adoption is a better option and no one has to die.
