Sneaking into homes is, should be illegal; USA our 'home'
Well, not your home, but your country. Some people think illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in our country despite them breaking the law and entering illegally. With the 2020 election looming and the incumbent Trump’s platform including a strong anti-immigrant agenda, the issue of immigration is on many students’ minds. To those still on the fence metaphorically, illegal immigration should stay banned and be heavily monitored.
First off, the law states “an alien apprehended while entering or attempting to enter at a time or place other than designated by an immigration officer shall be subject to a civil penalty,” according to section 8 U.S. Code 1325. This basically means someone who comes into our country without passing through checkpoints is considered illegal and broke the law. Therefore, when politicians make statements that illegal immigrants are criminals, they are right. Liberals like to claim that these accusations are racist, and that illegal immigrants are not in fact committing lots of crime, and they are right in the sense that they are not robbing, murdering, committing tax fraud, or doing those types of crimes at high rates. Rather, their very presence in the US makes them all criminals.
It’s also not fair that legal immigrants spend thousands of dollars that they earned as well as months of their life to come in and then others just sneak in at no cost. According to LegalBeagel.com, a visa is $535 a person, which isn’t an insane amount to us, but people in other countries that may equal about 5,000 dollars or more for them. Also that’s just a visa. If you want to fly here, it’s much more. Illegal immigrants usually spend nothing to enter though, and we don’t even know they’re here. It is not right to cheat the system like this.
While some people argue that it's inhumane to split families on the southern border, or that the conditions are terrible, itit is sad families are split, but they wouldn’t be split in the first place if they didn’t try and enter illegally. American citizens that broke the law are also separated from their families. As for the conditions, these people broke the law and you can’t expect our government to provide five star quality for them. It’s also important to know that legal immigrants are provided with baby products, clean water, fresh food, snacks, running water, and much more while they’re waiting to enter our country. The United States takes in the most refugees in the world, so there’s no reason to sneak in, unless you’re trying to break the law.
Another important fact you should know is that the government was absolutely no documentation of these people, because they snuck in. Meaning if they killed someone, and their face and DNA was recorded, it wouldn’t help because we don’t know them. But, if it was a citizen that did this, and we had their face and DNA a recorded, we could track them in minutes.
While others might disagree and have more compassion for those in our country illegally, the fact remains that coming here undocumented is like breaking into someone's home. Everyone would agree that this is wrong, so why would we let immigrants break into our country?
