Tennis team gives opinions on new uniforms

This year the girls tennis team has had many changes. For example, the team has gotten a new coach and new uniforms.

The new uniforms are blue Nike shorts and a blue tank top with a gray bucket hat. Many members of the team have mixed emotions on the uniforms.

Chloe S., a sophomore, says that she would like the uniforms much more if there was a skirt and an airport label on it.

Indiah S., probably the best player on the team, says that the team had to work for the uniforms. For example, the whole team had to run two miles to get the bucket hats and the team had to win two matches to earn the uniforms.

While the team is proud and thankful to have the uniforms, they also wish they weren’t so plain.

Considering the team is doing decently this year, some say uniforms should have been a given, not something the girls had to earn. This year the Lady Eagles tennis team is 3-3, meaning they have won three matches and lost three matches.

The hardest team they have played this season is Aiken because they have great technique.

Tim, the coach, has been working with the team with technique, confidence, and leadership. “Coach Tim has taught us not to get scared while calling points during matches,” Amaya E, number five on the team, explained. “He has also taught us to speak our minds during a match."

The girls have decided to wear the old uniform skirt and the new uniform tank top so they can put the balls in the skirt while they are playing.

There are no freshmen on the team, so the upperclassmen on the team have started to go to people and ask them to join the JV team.

Not many people know that there is a girls tennis team or when the matches are. However, the team does have an Instagram with the handle LadyEaglesGang to keep people updated. Check their page for upcoming game schedules and contact any member of the current team if you are interested in joining.
