Charity Drive adds 80s, 90s themed dance to weekly fundraising events
On Friday, March 8, the Charity Drive Dance was held. The dance was held at Airport High School in the school’s cafeteria.
People got to end the weekdays’ Charity Drive with a dance to celebrate all the things that were done throughout the week. The students had a time to rest and cool down from the week’s festivities.
The theme of the Charity Drive dance was the 80s and the 90s. The students got to dress up in their favorite costume to represent the two respective decades. The shindig let students have fun and go all out.
The dance had many colored lights, glitter, red tablecloths, and a DJ stand. The decorations were subtle, but matched well with the theme at hand.
“It feel like it was a good event to relieve from the week of Charity Drive and the hassle of Charity Drive,” said Isha, a member of the Sophomore Student Government Senators. “It was a load back event, not everyone was hysterically dancing the whole time.”
Mr. Bailey, the Student Activities Coordinator, explained that his favorite decorations were the flashing lights, and his favorite dance was the FootLoose.
“My favorite moment from the dance was the soul train we had going on, where everyone was just walking down the aisle,” Isha stated while laughing at the memory.
Many people anticipated the dance to end the official week of Charity Drive. People were ready to dress up and be their 80s and 90s self. However, word for the dance did not travel well as many people did not even know there would be a dance. That would explain why the event was small but mighty.
The Airport High School Student Activities Coordinator explained that the dance raised $470.00, and there was about 65 people there. Some people paid and did not come.
