Annual Food Fest raises money during charity drive

This year's annual Food Fest went off without a hitch on Friday, March 8, in the breezeway behind the 400 hall.

Airport High School has participated in the Camp Kemo Charity Drive for over 50 years, wherein student government host many school wide events including something called Food Fest. This is one of the most famous charity drives events and has the most student participation throughout all of the events.

This news is important because it is happening right here at Airport High School. People need to be able to see the good that Airport is doing to help kids with cancer. This is also fairly unique because most schools in South Carolina don’t do charity drives that can show the results that Airport does.

One thing interesting about Food Fest is the fact that a bunch of students and parents come together and cook great food and sell it during lunch. Without all of the parents and students that pitch in, food fest wouldn’t be as successful as it is.

Another interesting things is that food fest is predicted to be the second most profitable event next to third block throwdown. This means next to third block throwdown it raises the most money that goes towards camp kemo.

One student, Alex, says, “Every year the majority of the money I donate is through Food Fest.”

Andrew, another student, says, “Every year the highlight of charity drive would have to be Food Fest. It always has tons of great food and is loads of fun.”

When asked what he thought charity drive would be like without food fest, Andrew responded, “Without Food Fest Airport wouldn’t be able to hit their goal annually.”

Almost everyone at Airport is happy with food fest. Whether it is the delicious food or the drinks, most people that put money towards charity drive participate in food fest. It helps raise so much money for a great cause and everyone enjoys it so it is good for everyone.

Camp Kemo has a goal of 300 thousand dollars annually to send kids to camp and it is amazing that Airport High School is able to supply over ⅙ of that every single year. This is able to send many kids to camp that might not be able to go without the help of Airport students.
