Students manage jobs, keep grades up
Many of you may wonder how some students go to school, keep up with their grades, and have a part time job. Some of you think it’s too much for a child to handle but it’s actually all up to the child.
Students will have to learn how to manage their time before they try this because it is not easy. They’ll learn not to procrastinate and to use their down time wisely.
“I played sports, took AP classes, and I had a part time job at foodlion,” said Abbriana W.,, a senior basketball player. She also said it wasn’t easy at first but once she got the hang of it, it wasn’t hard.
Trying to manage school and a job takes time. The student has to be determined and has to want to succeed.
“It was hard, but it was also worth it because I like my own money but I also wanted to pass my classes,” says Essence J.,, a senior cheerleader for Airport High School.
You’ll learn that school comes first and to limit your time online because school is more important. If you have down time in a class , instead of getting on you phone, sleeping, or chatting with friends if you have homework or something that needs to be done for another class, get it done ! Don’t waste your time.
“I don’t recommend working and trying to finish school because I tried it and my grades started slipping so I had to take a break from work cause my education is more important,” said Andrew R., also a student at Airport High School.
Some students will be able to do it at first but once their grades start dropping or they start getting more homework they’ll have to tell their boss to cut their hours.
As you see it’s not easy but it is possible.
