Drill team goes for national championship
This week Airport High School's award winning Golden Talon drill team travels to Daytona Beach, Florida in hopes of winning a national championship.
Last year the team brought home a third place trophy and hopes to bring home a national championship this year.
The team leaves this Thursday and will return next Monday. If you see a member of the wish them luck because they are going to need it! The team has learned a lot of accomplishments from this season. They have respectively won their league, region, state, brigade, and are runner up Army national champions.
Going in with high hopes and months of practice one of the team's commanders Hannah said, “ I like our chances we just have to execute everything perfectly if we want to come back with first place.”
The students at school have faith in the team. When I asked my friend Brian about the team's chances he said that “they are really good, and I think they'll win.”
Members of the team are pumped and nervous to go. Many have never participated in a drill meet this big. For all of the seniors on the team this is their last chance to bring the big title back home to Airport.
