Age-old debate on if classes too hard or students too lazy rages on
Many students at Airport complain that the classes are too hard for them, but are they really? Studies have shown that students will say this about a class after they do not understand content or fail a test or quiz. This leads to students believing a class is too hard or they cannot do it.
Airport offers classes on a broad scale of difficulty. You have college prep, honors and advanced placement classes to choose from. The school even offers classes through Midlands Tech to earn an associate's degree. Students often blame their failures on the teachers.
In a classroom setting in my opinion it is the teacher's responsibility to cover all material as thoroughly as possible, and it is the student's responsibility ensure that they understand the content. In some cases students feel as if their teacher are not fully covering their responsibilities.
My friend Noah told me that his teacher “really does not teach him anything in class, and he has to go home and figure it out himself.” This makes both students and parents wonder if their teacher are truly doing their jobs. However, there are also some students who know that it is themselves that need to improve and not the teachers.
Referring to why he thinks the classes are not too difficult, a fellow student Jaxsen told me that “ he is pretty darn smart; he just needs to stop goofing around in class and pay more attention.”
In my opinion students should be pushed to learn and broaden their range of knowledge. If that means they have to take a harder class every now and then so be it. I also do believe that teachers should ensure that all of their students have a good, clear understanding of the content that they teach.
