Miss Aquila practice conflicts with girls’ soccer
During the week of January 30, Miss Aquila practice was scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. While that may have worked out for many contestants, for freshman Samantha Turner and sophomore Farah Diehl, it caused stress, as they both were also participating in soccer conditioning and tryouts scheduled at the same time.
When the girls learned the news they immediately began to worry. Their soccer conditioning and tryouts were from 3:45 - 5:30. Miss. Aquila practice went from 5:30 - 7:30.
They were both mandatory practices so the girls had no choice but to go.
By the time soccer was over the girls were exhausted. Being in both didn't change their focus at all. They were equally focused on both soccer and Aquila because each were very important.
The soccer coaches were very supportive of the girls decision to participate in the school pageant.
Samantha Turner states, “If you haven't done Aquia I strongly encourage it, it's very fun and a new experience.”
Although it was a inconvenience, coach Morris who coaches both the girl said that he “enjoys teaching the girls soccer team” and that he “supports the pageant.”
