Hunting popular activity for students over break; one student tells all
Airport High School Christmas break started on December 21, 2016, and Airport High School students had to return on June 4th, 2017. That gave me and other Airport students two weeks off to celebrate Christmas and the start of a new year. I spent my break spending time with family and doing as much hunting as I could.
Christmas break allowed me a lot of free time between work and other things to hunt, and every chance I got I went. I went duck hunting about three to four times a week with my buddies. We hunted many spots such as ponds, rivers and lakes. I also went deer hunting sometimes with my Dad at our hunting club.
When my buddies and I would have chances to duck hunt, we would get up at 3 a.m. to get ready and try and leave the house by 3:30 a.m. The landing where we would put the boat in is about a hour away from my house so we would be putting the boat in at about 4:30 a.m. Then we would go to our duck hunting spots which is about a 30 minute boat ride. When we got to our spot we would still have about a hour and 30 minutes till we could actually start shooting at ducks, so to kill time we would cook breakfast until shooting time.
My dad and I would also deer hunt in the evening when I didn't have work. We have a hunting club in Wagner that we hunt at. It's about a 35 minute drive from my house so we would leave the house at about 3:30 p.m. to get to the hunting club. We would get in the deer stand at about 4:10 p.m. and sit till dark.
Overall, I really enjoyed my two week vacation and I hope everyone at Airport High School had a great break too.
