SGA sponsors tailgate, ugly sweater contest

Airport High School students kicked off the last home football game last Friday, November 18, with a tailgate to show support for the Eagles.

The tailgate theme was Christmas and students were to show their spirit by wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. Hot dogs, chips and drinks were served to each student for free if they donated one canned good. While patiently waiting for the game to start , students also enjoyed music, line dancing and face and body painting.

Ms.Diimmler stated, “The students showed up with energy and excitement. I truly think their motivation made the football team win. When the players hear the students in the stands, it makes them play harder and I think the players would agree”.

Mr. Bailey said, “The tailgate was a success. We were able to serve over 90 hot dogs and collected over 100 canned goods. We even had 140 students in the student section. It was the largest amount of the year."

With the tailgate being an astounding success, The Eagles found no better way than to top the night off with a win against Eastside High.

For some reason, students were encouraged to wear ugly holiday sweaters to the tailgate event. [Photo by Cianni P.]
