Elite Events spice up early release days
One of the many changes this year since Mr. Coleman came to Airport is Elite Events. Every early release Wednesday this year, Elite Events take place.
Elite Events are 85 minutes long at the end of the school day once all four blocks are completed. During the 85 minute free time students are free to choose any of the activities provided for Elite Events. The cafeteria holds board games, book walks, and card games. The football field has different sport activities available, and Kona Ice has been in the B-Lot parking lot a few times. The 400 hallway has classrooms open with different activities, and Cosmetology offers hair, nails, and face paint in the commons area. A green screen room for music videos can also be found along with a game room with a Wii.
Participation in Elite Events are not required so if students choose to spend time with friends instead, you can sit at the tables in the cafeteria, outside at the benches, in the commons, or on the bleachers at the football field.
When asked how she felt about Elite Events on early release Wednesdays, Anayeli Rojas, a senior at Airport High School, said, “I really like Elite Events. I actually feel free for once during the school day, and I feel free to get involved in various activities." When asked what she felt could be improved, Anayeli said, “It would help if students knew more ahead of time about what is going on that day.”
Elite Events are fun and help ease the stress students have throughout the school day. Many students are excited for the next early release day so they can see what events are available for them to join into. Elite Events are definitely a change for the better.
