New Airport High School teachers love new teaching experience
There are several new teachers that have joined the Airport High School family this year; just to name a few, they include Mr. Bailey, Ms. Wilbourne, and Mr. Browning.
To begin, why did these teachers enter the profession? Mr. Bailey was inspired to teach by his student activities director in high school. His director, Mrs. Lola Richbourg, a former teacher at Airport, had a great impact on him during high school. She was his guide and he looked up to her because of the way she put her all into helping out the Airport community. Ms. Wilbourne teaches history mainly because she believes that “you cannot change the future until you learn from the past.” Mr. Browning teaches because he believes that “our public education system is the jewel of America.”
These three teachers found their way to Airport High School in different ways, but all with the same aspirations. Mr. Bailey and Ms. Wilbourne are both Airport graduates and they both take pride in teaching at Airport because it means a lot to them to be able to teach at the high school they graduated from; and in Mr. Bailey’s case, it is the high school that both his parents and older brother graduated from. Mr. Browning was directed to Airport by his primary adviser in grad school. He joined the Airport family by becoming a new teacher in the science department.
Mr. Browning’s favorite subjects in high school were art and history, and to this day they still are his favorite.
“Everyone is friendly,” said Ms. Wilbourne, “and they have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome.”
“The faculty, especially those in my department, and the administrators, are the best thing about working here,” said Mr. Browning.
Mr. Bailey said, “The students are great here and are willing to work hard to make Airport the best it can be.”
A lot of people have had nothing but great things to say about the new teachers.
There are ten new teachers this year at Airport High School.
