Great things are 'afoot' at AHS

Airport High School is notorious for helping those in need through various types of charities, drives, and fundraisers. Currently ongoing at AHS is yet another charitable cause. The Airport Eagles have been donating socks for the sock drive, which is being called “Socktober.”

This month Airport High School students and staff, along with other community members, have been selflessly donating brand new pairs of socks to the homeless men, women, and children out there around the area. This very kind and generous charity drive is inspired and based off of the inspirational speeches of Mike Smith.

As you probably know by now, Mike Smith is a professional inspirational, motivational speaker. He’s a quite important figure due to what he does for a living. He plays a pretty large role and is the core reason that causes a lot of events and drives that go on at many different schools in many different locations. An example of one event he has is something called “DUDE. be nice,” which was created to prevent and spread awareness of bullying.

Mike Smith is such an inspiration to Airport and to many other schools, and people in general, because his main goal is to always aim to aid those less fortunate than he.

In one of Mike’s speeches, he expresses how vital it is for the homeless to own a pair of socks. Especially when the seasons begin to change and it starts becoming cold outside. That simple speech about giving the homeless pairs of socks moved students and staff, which shortly motivated schools all around to start collecting socks for the homeless.

One of those schools that were drawn to help the less fortunate was AHS. For the month of October those at AHS have been donating pairs of socks to be given out to the homeless. At Airport there is a tradition of helping those who are struggling, and that is why we do what we do with these charities and fundraisers.
