AHS seniors rock the lot

AHS senior tend to want to leave in a big way. The way some senior leave their “mark” is by their vehicle, from the looks of the vehicle to the system that's in it. They want to make sure they they're noticed in the parking lot.

The reason senior want to leave in a big way is so that they're remember after they graduate and they're gone. They want their truck or car and them being brought up even when they're not there. They modify their vehicles in different ways that make people remember them, including the physical looks of the truck or the noise it makes.

One of the most visual appealing modifications someone can do is changes to the exterior. Most common to the trucks in the parking lot are the biggest lift you can get and the biggest tires you can fit. Another change that applies to all vehicles are nice rims and LED lights. One exterior change that applies to the car group is spoilers or getting the car lowered.

Another modification that seniors enjoy is sound, either in their sound system or in their exhaust system. The type of exhaust system that applies to both groups is their vehicle being straight piped. Which allows a deeper exhaust sounds that sounds much better than a stock exhaust. For their sound systems, seniors love to put the highest wattage and biggest inch sub they can fit in their vehicle to increase the sounds quality for their vehicle.

The student I interviewed regarding senior vehicles was current AHS senior Tanner Hawkins, age 16 and current resident in Columbia SC. He is the owner of a suburban with both aftermarket sound and exterior modifications. He's quoted saying, “It takes a lot of money to get your truck looking right but it's worth it in the long run." Then he goes on to say that “it feels good being noticed by your truck and feels even better when you get complimented on the hard work and money you've put into your truck." He then goes on talking about his modifications he's done to his truck and all the money he's put into it.

There are different opinions, positive and negative, on changing your vehicle to aftermarket parts. Some people say it's just a waste of money because bigger tires and lift cut down on fuel economy which cost you more money and that a louder system isn't need to enjoy your music. While on the other side people love making their truck look a lot better while it cost a good bit of money and it's worth upgrading your system because it will bring out the different elements in your music out more. No matter what side you're on anyone can appreciate a nice looking vehicle.

Most truck owners wonder how much it cost to lift their truck, as that is a highly popular modification. Every truck is going to cost different depending on the the brand of truck, size of life, and if it's two wheel drive or four wheel drive. But typically, based on my personal experience, it will cost between $1,400-$2,000.

Additionally, if you plan to modify your own truck, do so sooner than later; the car competition is one of the most popular events in the annual spring charity drive.
