AHS hosts tailgate party for students, community

On August 26, AHS student government hosted a tailgate party before the BC game. AHS kicked off the tailgate party near parking Lot A at 7:00.

Student government put together this tailgate party to get students to come out to the game to support and get them pumped. Knowing our rival is BC, we needed extra spirit and tons of encouragement for our Varsity football players.

During the tailgate party, students got painted up, had rallies, and took pictures. Students would paint the letter “A” or a jersey number on their legs or arms. Usually, guys would paint their chest and girls would paint their stomachs. Our typical paint colors are white and blue.

The Varsity cheerleaders also participates by painting, as well as taking pictures as a whole team. They like to get everyone to join and get painted. It’s a cheerleader’s job to tell other students to come out to cheer on the football players as much they do.

Essence J., 11th grader and varsity cheerleader, said, “ Getting painted really got all the cheerleaders excited for the big game!”

Travis C., 11th grader and golfer, describes the tailgate party as “the best tailgate party yet!” and says, “couldn’t have been better!”

While others seem to love everything about the tailgate party, some think a few things need to change. Of course, for the better! Essence explains, “There should be games and music involved. Maybe there could even be a tailgate party after every home game.”

Although we ended up losing to BC, the score being 47-43, the crowd was still supportive of the football players’ hard work and dedication.
