West Columbia is a town in eastern Lexington County,SC.It was founded in 1894 and was originally named Brookland but in 1936 it was renamed to “West Columbia”.West Columbia has a population of around 18,000 and has a lot of things to do.



10.Old Mill Antique Mall


Old Mill sells a wide variety of collectables, antiques and furniture. There are over 75 shops in the store.

9.Gervais Street Bridge


Probably one of the more historic venues on this list, Gervais street bridge has connected West Columbia to Columbia since 1926 and has great views of the city.

The riverwalk spans 12 miles where you can get great views of the Columbia skyline and the bridges that go over the river. “I like to go there to exercise," says Cooper L., [and] I love the views.”

Riverbanks Botanical Gardens is one of the premier attractions in West Columbia with tremendous views of the river and the wildlife within the garden itself.

Probably one of the most famous tourist spots in the state is Riverbanks Zoo. It is home to thousands of animals. Millions of people from all over the nation visit the zoo.

Zestos of West Columbia has been the go-to restaurant for people all across the state for almost 75 years with their famous burgers, ice cream, and probably their most famous menu item, roasted chicken. "Ice cream and chicken are my favorites,” says AHS student, Cooper L.
